I'm very jealous that you'll be at the Richmond race, but enjoy...

 

Don't be to jealous, seats aren't all that great, low and on the back stretch. We've sat in that area before and it wasn't horrible but had MUCH better views at other tracks. Something about us and Richmond, we've yet to get great seats.

But I won't complain, hell they were part of a promotion from a grocery store...buy X amount within Y period of time and you get free tickets.

The hard part is I'm moving to WV this week and what used to be a 3 and a half hour drive will now be 7 and a half, but hey, they're free tickets.

 

Free is very cool-have fun... WV-I didn't know people moved there???...

 

It'll be a far cry from podunk NC where we're at now. From what I've seen so far, at least the people that are in this area of WV that we're moving to can enunciate. That alone is a step up!! :?

You should have a great view of the action out of turn 2 and into 3 and 4.

Richmond is a lot like Nashville's old 5/8 mile track, without the high banking, short enough to have tight racing and flat enough to tear up the rubber.

 

Rev those engines up because it's time to go racing in Richmond on Saturday night...Love the night races!!!

 

OK AND WOW, that was an amazing race. There was so much going on.
Cars look awesome under the lights. Richmond is so fun. We had a blast.

 

I bet it was a blast-I'm jealous...I'm going to be gone for a few weeks, so you can keep everyone informed about what's happening...Although, there's only a few of us that post here...

I wish I knew who it's going to be-I have to set my fantasy team tomorrow...It's been a hard year for me to pick a good team...

 

I gave up on the fantasy teams, I have enough problems living in reality.

Is it true that NASCAR got it's origins from the days of bootlegging and moonshine running?

 

Is this true? Yes and no, moonshine runners used "souped up" cars to deliver their wares, so they could outrun the authorities. Some of these guys became drivers in early stock car racing, since they already had more powerful engines and stouter chassis's they won a fair share of the local races.

NASCAR came into being in 1948, when Bill France organized a bunch of drivers and local tracks under one set of rules, so that the drivers could run at various locations under standardized conditions.

Two of the most famous drivers in early NASCAR championships were Buck Baker and Junior Johnson who both honed their driving skills running 'shine.

It may not float YOUR boat, but what is the point of making disparaging remarks about it? Do you feel better about yourself after doing so?
