Actress Jaime King and filmmaker Kyle Newman are engaged, her rep tells PEOPLE.

The Sin City star met Newman a year ago while working on the film Fanboys, which he directed.

King, 28, recently wrapped production on the thriller They Wait, and is featured in David Arquette’s The Tripper. She’s now filming The Pardon in Shreveport, La.

Newman is in post-production on Fanboys.
